About

Deborah Jones was arts editor of The Australian newspaper for 10 years and also edited the Review section of The Australian. She is now a freelance writer and editor, specialising in dance, musical theatre, theatre and opera. She continues to review dance and musical theatre for The Australian, is a member of the Sydney Theatre Awards panel and reviews opera performances in Sydney for the London-based Opera magazine.

My blog is proof of a few things: that it’s very hard to make an old journalist shut up, even when she is supposed to be retired; that it’s impossible to know how there was ever time to actually go to work every day; and that someone who had the benefit of Help Desk assistance for a quarter of a century can in fact manage on her own (with a little help from close relations). Here I will put down some thoughts on the many performances I see in Sydney and beyond, and on ideas and events that interest me. I will also archive reviews I write for The Australian after they appear in its pages.
